Nearly everyone who has full head hair has had to deal with a slow drain or clogged drain. Although drain stoppers can slow down hair from entering the drain, a blockage is almost always inevitable.
There are three simple ways to get rid of hair from your drains: a snaking device (store-bought, homemade), baking soda and vinegar mixture, or plunging. For stubborn clogs, you might want to call a plumber.
1. Make or buy a snaking device
When less-invasive methods fail, you can use store-bought or homemade snaking devices to clear your bathroom or sink. A wire hanger is all you need to make your own snaking device. To clear any clogging, you can simply straighten the wire hanger and place it down your drain. You can also use a Zip-it tool. To ensure that your drain is clear, you can also use hot water to flush it.
2. Mix in baking soda and vinegar
Although we aren't scientists, we do know that baking soda and vinegar can cause a chemical reaction that clears up small clogs. This unclogging remedy is simple: First, pour water down the drain, and then add vinegar and baking soda. After waiting for five minutes, pour boiling water down the drain.
If your hairball isn't going down the drain, you can push it through the trap. Grab your trusted plunger for this job. You can seal the deal by dipping your drain with a cup of water or a flat plunger.
Clogging problems may not be solved by even the most advanced tools available in the shop. Sometimes, clogged sinks and tubs can be the result of a bigger problem. It doesn't matter what the cause is; it could be costly for your plumbing system or your budget to attempt DIY solutions. A professional plumber can diagnose the problem and solve it.
